Plugin framework

One of the features that makes our Content Management System OMS so flexible is the plugin framework it has at the heart of the system.

There are two kinds of plugin that have similar functionality but satisfy two completely different functions.

  • System plugins - developed by Octimum
  • User Widgets - admin user defined
  • Unique System Plugins - Totally bespoke build

System plugins

These plugins feature the more complex usability on a site and allow a site's administrator to populate different areas of a page with 'mini programs' that perform a particular task on the site such as simple things like a contact form or Twitter/ Facebook integration or as complex as a booking system or even a mini shop.

A few examples are shown below of the typical kind of thing a system plugin might do.

User widgets

These essentially work in the same way as a system plugin but they are created and edited by the admin user and can therefore be used to display almost anything kind of content. The beauty of user widgets is that once a widget has been created, it can be reused anywhere across the site without having to retype anything.
